Ablution

Crass cracked how goes the tale
plumb down the depths.
The cloggings out-snaked
are disgusting.
But it all come from somewhere
now, didn’t it?
Everyone’s got some backed-up
foulness which they wish would
“just go away,”
Even as they stand ankle deep
in the gray murk,
Wondering what’s the matter,
mindless of all the day-in,
day-out sloughing.
That shit’s gotta go somewhere
and it don’t go easy
into that good pipe.
The gooseneck cranes
get a good view, but,
“Hey, it’s dark down here!”
Murgly, gurgly, at last
the tub is drained
And out hops the bather,
but, lo, the ring remains.
