And so Hosea took a whore for a wife.
Like Jehovah none too wise
in the ways of love,
The prophecy business may well
have been revisionist history
To cover up the fact he’d been
so easily duped.
After all, Solomon’s proverbs had surely warned him
of the strange woman who flatters with words —
Loud and stubborn —

And after, he went “as an ox to the slaughter or as
a fool goeth to the the correction of the stocks.”
“She hath cast down many wounded: yea, many
strong men have been slain by her.”
[fuck ‘em]
“Her house is the way to hell, going down to the
chamber of death.”
[fuck me]
One is left to ponder, did he cry when he first
brought her home, and wonder why?
